Hey, I am Pixel Renaissance Dad!
I’m a regular guy somewhere in his thirty-something years, anonymous by choice, dad by fate, maker of things by obsession.
I live where lifting heavy things meets breaking Linux servers, where I build a pixel art game I have absolutely no business building — a childhood dream I’ve been carrying for decades, one I’ll keep chipping away at slowly, even with yearly breaks, until maybe one day in retirement I can finally hand it over as the experience I always wanted to share.
Last Christmas, with my wife’s full support, I finally bought myself a Steam Deck. (She’s as big a gamer as I am — back before kids, entire weekends used to vanish into co-op sessions.) These days I probably spend more time tinkering and breaking things on it — installing random Linux distros, tweaking emulators, and customising everything — than actually playing games. Turns out I’m far from the only one who “hit their head” and went full tinkerer mode; the Steam Deck Reddit is full of us.
I stare at crypto charts at 2 a.m. while promising myself I’ll go to bed “soon.” I fight migraines. I self-host everything I can on a little Linux box in the corner of my home office. I have a Godot project that’s permanently “almost working,” and a stubborn belief that the best answer to a chaotic world is to build something small, honest, and yours.
My wife and kids are the quiet center of everything. I don’t always lead with that — it sounds too much like a cliché — but it’s true. Every rep, every late-night coding session, every learning curve I refuse to quit… they all circle back to wanting to be someone worth being around.
Why this blog?
Because I got tired of only consuming and wanted to start producing. Because social media is engineered for noise and I wanted a place where thoughts could actually breathe. Because blogs are supposedly dead — and that oddly motivates me.
No algorithm. No niche. No brand deals. Just honest writing from a guy with too many interests and not enough hours.
The site is static, completely ad-free, and built as lean as I could make it. No tracking, no pop-ups, no sponsored posts. No stock images, no visual filler — text-first, by choice. Keep it small, keep it honest, leave out what isn’t needed.
What I write about
- Health & Lifestyle — training, nutrition, sleep, fatherhood, and how to stay functional when migraines have other plans
- Tech — Linux, self-hosting, mini servers, Steam Deck, DIY tinkering, and whatever gadget I’m currently obsessed with
- IT & Learning — my actual field, autodidact experiments, AI, and watching the industry mutate in real time
- Game Dev — building a top-down pixel art game in Godot even though I draw like a caffeinated toddler. (Music and sound design: somehow even worse than the art, and I have absolutely no desire to fix that. That’s my hard limit — and I’m at peace with it.)
- DeFi & Crypto — analysis, investment thoughts, and the ongoing experiment of trusting math more than institutions
- Random — whatever I find interesting, beautiful, or worth saving from the noise
Why anonymous?
The internet has a long memory and I have small children.
Also, there’s something liberating about writing without a personal brand. No one is here because of my LinkedIn. If you found this place, you found it because something actually resonated — and that’s the only reason worth being here.
